The nail fungus / onychomycosis that infects the toenail is usually the same fungus that causes athletes foot. Fungal nail infections tend to be progressive and can spread from one nail to another. As the nail fungus thrives in moist conditions toenails tend to be more affected than fingernails.

The Elite iQ laser is an ND Yag laser that heats up the nail exposing the fungi to high temperatures which subsequently destroy the infection. How often will I need treatments
Normally around 4 treatments are required for fungal nail infections at 1-2 weekly intervals. Treatment time is around 15 minutes
Does it hurt?
The treatment involves heating the nail up to around 38-45 degrees and the sensation is similar to a hot spot. Cooling is applied directly afterwards. Temporary darkening under the nail plate can occur and typically resolves within a few weeks of treatment.
What is the aftercare?
It is vital that all footwear is treated with a fungal shoe treatment and that footwear is rotated. Aftercare advice is provided at the consultation
