Bocouture or Allergan
Treatment areas:
Glabellar (brows)
Frontalis (forehead)
Calantheral (crows)
- Please note the forehead cannot be treated on its own, it will also require the brows to be treated.
Anti-wrinkle treatments often use a drug derived from botulinum toxin type A, commonly known by the brand name Botox. This substance works by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for creating wrinkles. It blocks the chemical signals that trigger muscle contractions, which helps to soften existing lines and prevent new ones from forming.
Although the drug itself is naturally excreted from the body within 48 hours, its effects last longer. This is because it disrupts the receptors in the muscle that receive the movement for signals. Over time, the body gradually regenerates these receptors, usually over the course of several months, allowing full muscle movement to return.
When the treatment is done well the effect is a naturally youthful and refreshed appearance.
Botulinum type A is thought to be the best treatment for forehead, frown and crows lines. The treatment usually lasts 3-5 months and develop 2-3 weeks after treatment.
Benefits of botulinum type A:
Smooths existing lines
Helps prevent new wrinkles
Softens facial features
People who have neurological conditions such as Myasthenia Gravis and Parkinsons Disease should avoid this treatment. Taking certain antibiotics such as Erythromycin is a contraindication, and people taking blood thinning medications such as Warfarin and Heparin are more prone to bruising and should therefore be considered with caution.
Avoiding caffeine, alcohol, ibuprofen , St Johns Wort and blood thinners can increase the risk of bruising and swelling for injectable treatments and are best avoided 24 hours prior to treatment.
A face-to-face assessment is now a legal requirement and applies to every new prescribing episode/ antiwrinkle treatment, this must also be within 3 months from the initial consultation.
A 30–40-minute consultation for new clients allows a full discussion and opportunity for any questions to ensure you are fully aware of the facts, including any risks and side effects to ensure a fully informed decision. This will also include medical history to check suitability. Open and honest advice will be provided for appropriate treatment; in some instances, advice against treatment may be in your best interests. You will then require a further appointment for the treatment, alongside a deposit payment of £100.
Following your treatment a complementary appointment 2 weeks after will be provided, this is to make any necessary corrections. Please note the amount of correction required, lifestyle factors, metabolism, and skin type will influence the longevity of the treatment.
